Job Description: Established, profitable and rapidly evolving provider of telecommunications services to a large Rocky Mountain marketplace seeks a seasoned, energetic and capable leader with a relevant education and extensive practical experience to be Director of Engineering. Operating from company headquarters (a rural town of 1,300 people and 120 + miles from the nearest mall), the position requires an organized, analytical self-starter who:
Is a solid, secure and pragmatic Manager of people, information, processes and projects;
Leads by personal example with a pleasant, effective and low-key communicative style;
Can pro-actively and successfully organize, prioritize, manage and support the diverse technical, planning, construction and forecasting requirements to grow and manage a geographically dispersed, technically complex and mobile telecommunications organization; and
Can contribute to Strategic Planning and Corporate Development initiatives as well as operate productively in the day-to-day, nitty-gritty of construction and project management.

It requires a skillful, collaborative, enterprising individual who: i.) is personally and professionally motivated to drive continuous improvement; ii.) appreciates the knowledge, experience and skills of others; and iii.) harbors no rescue fantasies. This person: i.) enjoys working in a competitive, customer-focused, entrepreneurial setting; and ii.) can anticipate change / future problems. The position interacts with the entire organization including Construction, Warehouse & Supply, HR, IT, Accounting, Sales & Marketing and Outside Plant, so a good sense of inter-departmental “flow” is essential. The Director oversees 15 engineers and 16 administrative staff located in three regional offices and reports directly to the Corporate Executive Group. Intra-state and inter-state travel is required.
Of particular interest are individuals who have/are:
1.) Substantial project and construction management experience working in rural and mountainous environments with highly seasonal weather patterns;
2.) Well-versed in wireless and wire line telecommunications technologies including TDMA and GSM standards-based communications.
3.) Worked successfully in both small and large organizations;
4.) Successfully handled the complexities of managing growth and the nuances of organizational development and change and the related cultural metamorphosis;
5.) Suitable experience managing recruitment, compensation, and performance evaluations across diverse types of workers;
6.) Developed, trained and overseen multi-functional / cross-functional work teams; and
7.) Created, installed and successfully used management and information systems, to support and improve operational measurement, benchmarking and other statistical controls.
Compensation is directly commensurate with experience and the ability to deliver results.
